University Funding Questioned

Funding deals for the province’s universities must be transparent and public, says the head of the Nova Scotia university faculty association.

“The problem is that it is being done on an ad hoc and a non-transparent basis,” Scott Stewart, president of the Association of Nova Scotia University Teachers, said of more than $6 million in emergency funding that is being doled out to two universities to eliminate deficits for this fiscal year.
